Our Story
Hi there! I’m Alys, founder and head tutor of Tutti Tutoring.
Ever since I can remember, I have loved to learn. And, over the last ten years, I have also loved helping others to learn. Through my experiences, I have not only taught students of all capabilities, but I have learnt so much from them too. Learning is something we do together, and every student’s learning journey is unique.
My Story
I began tutoring at school, leading reading groups for underprivileged students, and continued tutoring on an individual basis alongside my university studies. Very quickly, I realised how much I enjoyed the process: breaking down tricky concepts, finding creative ways to explain things, and most of all, watching a student’s confidence grow. Over time, what started as a side passion turned into a calling. I’ve since tutored hundreds of students across a wide range of subjects and levels, from primary school through to university, and I founded Tutti to bring together everything I’d learnt about effective, personalised teaching.
My Background & Experience
With a first-class degree in English from Durham University and a Master’s in Creative Writing from the University of Cambridge, I have a strong academic background, but more importantly, I’ve spent over a decade honing my skills as a tutor. Alongside one-to-one lessons, I’ve run group workshops, revision courses, summer schools, UK and US university application courses and creative writing sessions, supporting students through some of their most important milestones. My experience spans exam preparation, long-term academic support, and subject enrichment for students who want to stretch themselves further to reach their potential.
Why Tutti?
The word Tutti is Italian for “all” or “together”—and that’s exactly what this tutoring community is built on. Tutti exists to provide any student, at any level, with everything they need to succeed. It is also a play on words, as it also sounds like ‘Tutee’, embodying our ethos that the individual student is at the very centre of the tuition we provide. Learning is not something that happens in isolation; it’s a collaborative process. That’s why Tutti lessons are tailored not only to academic needs, but also to personal learning styles, goals, and motivations.
What makes Tutti different is our holistic approach: lessons don’t just stop when the online lesson ends. We create personalised study guides with students, tailored to their way of learning; we provide extensive resources to further enhance students’ learning journeys; and we develop long-term strategies that help students build independence, resilience, and curiosity. Again embodying the meaning of the word ‘tutti’, we provide it all - online lessons enriched with accompanying resources, personalised study guides and academic consultations.
Our Philosophy
At Tutti, we believe learning should be empowering, encouraging and inclusive. My aim is always to nurture not just better grades, but a genuine love for learning. That means celebrating progress, building confidence, and creating an environment where questions are encouraged and mistakes are seen as opportunities to grow. Above all, we want every student to leave their lessons each week feeling more capable and more motivated.
The Impact
Over the years, I’ve seen shy students grow into confident learners, struggling students achieve top grades, and ambitious students reach new heights - whether that’s winning a scholarship, securing a place at their first-choice university, winning writing competitions, or simply discovering joy in a subject they once found overwhelming.
Looking Ahead
Tutti has always been more than just tutoring for me, it’s about building a learning community. Looking to the future, I hope to expand Tutti by growing my team of brilliant tutors, developing an expansive library of educational resources, and continuing to create opportunities for students to thrive both academically and personally.
Whether you’re looking for support, challenge, or inspiration, Tutti is here to help your child unlock not only their potential, but also their enjoyment of learning.
